When Nina was very young, she wanted to be a doctor if not a lawyer. But her gift for singing interfered, not as a nuisance but as something predestined.
At a young age of five, Marifil Nina Girado found out that she could sing in front of a lot of people. Her audience then were her relatives, and with the potential she displayed, her father trained her and made her sing 20 songs each day. Sh ejoined the Perpetual Help Church Choir in Cubao, and without sacrificing her education, Nina's Childhood was spent in singing and studying at the Victory School Foundation. Later on, at age 17, she became a vocalist of a number of show bands that included the XS Band, MYMP, Big Thing (manged by Randy Santiago), Skin and Essence. While she was an Accounting student at Miriam College during the day, by night she was seen in several joints, namely Strumms, Limits, Hard Rock Cafe, Ratsky's and Fashion Cafe. When she graduted, things became more convenient for her. But now,e verything is as hectic as before, as she is now recognized as "the Soul Siren" and one of the most in-demand female artists of the local music industry.
