Nina competing with Sarah Geronimo?

MANILA, Philippines - Pop singer Nina on Wednesday expressed surprise that some fans of Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo were criticizing her over her Diamond Record Award.

The soul siren became the first female Filipino singer to receive the award after her "Nina Live!" album sold 220,000 copies.

Geronimo’s fans have reportedly been insisting that the pop princess should be the first female singer in the country to be given the distinction. They claimed that Geronimo’s albums have already reached the same number of sales way ahead of “Nina Live!”

But Nina stressed that there is no ongoing competition between her and Geronimo. She even noted that she and Geronimo are getting along very well.

"Nagka-clash ba? Actually, hindi ko talaga alam. Pero kung diamond awardee din siya ay congratulations din," Nina said. "Thankful ako na ako ‘yong first female na naka-receive ng Diamond award aside from first male na si Jose Marie Chan."

Nina also denied that she bragged about her award. "Hindi po lumalaki ang ulo ko at hindi ko bina-brag na diamond awardee ako."

Nina, or Marifil Nina Girado, has achieved multi-platinum record sales. She is an elite member of ASAP Sessionistas, which regularly performs on musical variety show “ASAP X.”

She is also one of the country’s hottest and popular singers.

Nina is now gearing up for a Valentine show with “Sessionistas” on February 11 in Batangas. She will also hold a concert called "Love 2 Love 2 Love," with Freestyle and Side A, at the Araneta Coliseum on February 12.

She will invade Music Museum on March 5 and 6 for her big concert, which is dubbed "Nina: The Diamond Soul Siren."

Case vs Nyoy Volante

Meanwhile, Nina admitted that she and Nyoy Volante recently bumped into each other, and that encounter was not pleasant for the "Jealous" singer.

"Nag-cross path na kami. Parang hindi ko lang ma-take na naka-smile pa siya knowing na ‘yong kasalubong niya ay nasaktan niya. Wala akong na-feel na regret,” she said, adding:

“Kung sa akin from a far, kung nakita mo ang tao, hindi ba mahihiya ka dahil nasaktan mo ang tao, iiwas ka na lang? Pero siya parang wala lang."

Nina has sued Volante, a former boyfriend, for estafa.

"Okay lang sa akin kahit hindi niya ako kausapin. Huwag lang siyang bungisngis,” she said.

When before she was open to a settlement, Nina said she is now leaving it up to the court. She was confident that she has enough evidence to win the case.

When it comes to matters of the heart, meantime, Nina is very happy. She and her non-celebrity boyfriend, Enrico Enriquez, have been together for 3 years now.

Nina, however, quickly said that she and Enriquez are not still thinking about settling down.
