Nina, undoubtedly the country's one and only Soul Siren has come a long way since her debut in 2002. She has gained further respect with the unbelievable breakthrough success of her monster hit album Nina Live! Which earned a 2005 Awit Best Selling Album Award with multi-platinum sales. She was the first artist of this generation to make a string of videos per album which made every other artist follow in the pursuit of gaining a strong presence in the music video scene. Nina is the only artist at the moment who can penetrate every genre. She is the most accepted female act who can do pop, jazz, acoustic and r&b all at the same time. With this capability, Nina will continue to rise among all her other competitors because she is the most flexible, already ahead of everyone else and most of all she has the best team to back her up.

Press ReleaseNO ONE DOES IT LIKE NINA
Ever since Nina put her dainty little foot in Warner Music's office in 2000, the music label knew from her powerful "Foolish Heart" rendition that it got itself a major music talent. Six years, three multi-platinum albums and countless concerts later, the Soul Siren sings an even more beautiful tune, and pours out everything in her fourth and biggest album to date.
No other female artist could match Nina's all-around mastery of pop, r&b, jazz and soul genres. While others limit themselves to just r&b, ballads, acoustic tributes or the occasional remake, Nina the mainstream superstar has done much, much more- and it shows in Nina, her self-titled and well-rounded studio release.
"The reason why I decided to simply name this album after myself is because, after all the hard work, I feel I've finally made it in the industry by just being what I truly am," confides the petite chanteuse, who recently won big at the 2005 Awit Awards Best Selling Album, thanks to the phenomenal sales of her Nina Live! franchise. "I just want my fans to enjoy the best of what I can possibly give," she adds.
In true diva style, Nina covers all her bases in Nina, starting with her smashing pop R&B single, "I Do." Giddy fans would think the original composition is Nina's sweet reply to her steady significant, Nyoy Volante. But the 26-year old soul siren assures us that she isn't tying the knot anytime soon. "I am just so happy saying 'I do' to life, to work, and I thank God for all the wonderful blessings He gives me each day," she says. Although it ups the kilig factor to know that Nyoy especially composed two ballads for Nina's latest ten-track album.
The rest of the songs on Nina run the gamut of pop, jazz and R&B, with a sprinkling of acoustic and jazz ballad remakes. Composer Andrew Fromm, who penned Christian Bautista's hit ballad, "The Way You Look at Me," also lends his songwriting talents on the soul siren's eponymous album. And if you think things can't get any sweeter, the bonus track off Nina is the pop happy "Ang Araw Mo." The track is Nina's playful song for Goldilocks, of whom she is the official, sweet-toothed endorser. With Nina, it just proves that you can have your cake and eat it, too.
Even though she has a tiny frame, Nina made huge waves in the music industry. With her string of video releases starting from 2002's Heaven album, Nina helped pump up the music television scene, and opened the flood wave of OPM music videos.
As the first female acoustic artist, Nina also pioneered a wave of acoustic hits, starting with tracks like "Foolish Heart," "Loving You," and all the other hits on her Nina Live! CD, VCD and DVD-which was also a landmark in OPM music. One might recall that Nina Live! was a collection of Nina and her fans' favorite love songs renditions, and which spawned a great senti revival throughout the Philippines. Sosi students, cool yuppies to balut vendors alike were evidentially singing along to this album. In fact, if you google for any of the songs on Nina Live!, the soul siren's name will undoubtedly crop up in your top searches, proving just how famous and accepted her remakes are in the market.
And it seems that Nina has finally come full circle. Not one to be caged in by a specific genre, this musical butterfly has further evolved on her fourth studio album. Nina, which will be released on August 15, is an album for everyone with everything a full-fledged diva can offer. It's a testament to Nina's destiny as the country's reigning soul siren.
Nina the album will be available in your favorite record stores and music bars starting on August 15 under Warner Music Philippines.
