Here’s the ‘Morning Call’ review of Charice’s performance Friday night.

Opening act Charice, the 18-year-old Filipina introduced to America on the ”Oprah” show, showed she has grown beyond the Christina Aguilera imitator she was on that show. Now 18, she was a confident performer whose voice is now big without being over-the-top Aguilera.

She was on stage just 10 minutes, singing two songs, including ”Pyramid,” her dance hit duo with the show’s supporting act, Iyaz, and three karaoke-esque snippets of Lady Gaga’s ”Just Dance,” Miley Cyrus’ ”Party in the USA” and Michael Jackson’s ”Rock With You.”

She reprised ”Pyramid” (and sang stronger) in a duet during the Iyaz’s four-song, 17-minute set. Iyaz also was great: his singing was sweet, his songs poppy — especially his hit ”Solo,” with which he opened, and his huge hit ”Replay,” with which he closed.
